The tournament ran pretty smoothly with 8 participants – a round robin format was agreed on on the night, though this took longer than expected and some players did have to leave early.
Luckily, Alistair Anderson came to watch and was able to fill in for missing players for rounds 5 and 6. (Alistair’s results did not impact the top 3 standings.)
Mio’s only loss came against Jack after a 1 move blunder in a better position, allowing a pawn fork of Queen and Rook.
Jack’s only loss came against Geoff Gill, in a similar lapse of consciousness at the tail-end of a crazy game, where Geoff’s bishop forked king and rook in devastating fashion. Geoff Gill slid into 3rd place with 5.5/7, having drawn with Louis Fevrier.
