The Geelong Chess Club 2016 Twenty Minute Championship is in progress.
Venue: Geelong Chess Club, 33 Myers Street Geelong
Format: 6-Round Swiss
Duration: two rounds per night over three Thursdays:
24th November, 2016
1st December, 2016
8th December, 2016
Time limit: 20 minutes per player, no increment.
Clocks Start: 7:30pm .
Director of Play: Michael Sugrue
Late entries
Players unable to play on the first night were granted a late entry.
Late entrants were awarded a 1 point bye, i.e. they will start their first match in round 3 on 1st December, with a score of 1 point.
Entries for the Tournament are now closed.
Postponements
Because of the tournament format, where two matches must be played each night, postponements are not permitted. Once entered, players must complete all matches.
Tiebreaks
If two players are tied for first place after 6 rounds, two 5-minute lightning matches will be played to decide an overall winner. If this is also tied, the players are both declared Champion.
In the event of more than two players being tied, the Buchholz system will be used to establish the top two finishers.
